Authentication Type Definitions
Apostille:
Select "Apostille" if documents will be used in another country (or one of its embassies or consulates) and that country participates in The Hague Treaty Convention 12. Select the destination country from the "Destination Country" drop down box. If the destination country is not listed, an apostille cannot be issued. Please contact the Georgia Secretary of State for the Great Seal certification (404-656-2871).

Domestic Certification of Notary:
Select "Domestic Certification" if documents will stay within the U.S. or a U.S. territory and will not be used internationally. Notes:
  • Documents going to foreign embassies or consulates located in the U.S. are considered to be international documents going to that foreign country.
  • The Georgia Secretary of State will only accept notary certifications from the notary’s commissioning county.
